Welcome to HAH Brass Studios!
I offer private lessons on all brass instruments for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
My goal is to create a welcoming, safe, fun, and rigorous environment for students to develop as musicians, people, and life-long learners.

About Me
Mr. H. A. Hoffman
Hello! My name is H. A. Hoffman, and I’m a professional horn player and educator based Kingsport, TN.
I founded my private studio in 2019 and have since had the privilege of teaching students of all levels; from beginners picking up the horn for the first time to advanced players preparing for college auditions and professional opportunities. Early in my career, I served as a high school band director, but my passion for one-on-one teaching led me to focus full time on private instruction. I also serve as Professor of Horn at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.
My students have achieved outstanding success, performing as top members of their school ensembles and earning placements in Tennessee All-East and All-State honor bands. Many have also gone on to perform with world-class drum and bugle corps such as Spirit of Atlanta, Carolina Crown, Music City, Boston Crusaders, and Phantom Regiment, as well as with the Parris Island Marine Band. Several have continued their musical journeys in college, earning scholarships to perform in university ensembles.
I hold a Master of Music in Performance from Middle Tennessee State University and dual Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Instrumental Performance from Western Carolina University.
Outside of teaching, I’m an active performer and lifelong learner. I currently play with the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and have freelanced with regional orchestras including Chattanooga, Huntsville, Hendersonville, Symphony of the Mountains, and as a session musician at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville.
